Presented at the American Board of Nursing Specialties 2021 Spring Virtual Conference
Do you want to learn how to strengthen your virtual subject matter expert (SME) teams and match the productivity achieved at in person exam development workshops? Do you struggle with SME fatigue, burnout, and lack of
engagement? Are you spending more time recruiting new SMEs because you are losing veteran SMEs?
This session will identify common challenges certification and licensure organizations are facing as they move all exam development to a virtual environment , and will provide new ideas, tools and techniques we have applied to bridge this divide. Attendees will leave this session with a cache of specific tools and techniques to use with their SME teams that will increase their sense of community and ownership, productivity, and motivation.
Learner Objectives:
- Demonstrate innovative ice breakers, including: content-relevant “mad libs,” creativity-inducing games, etc.
- Describe how facilitators divided item review tasks with “brain break” activities and provide examples.
- Demonstrate tools and techniques including: “jam boards” for item topic brainstorm, round robin item development, SME “crowd-sourced” distractor development, “unicorn items”, etc.
Speakers:
- Laura Brooks, Alpine Testing Solutions
